Tim Kendrew

Tim (he/him) grew up in Palmy, and has 10 years experience in community development roles with a focus on young adults, in a Christian ministry setting and later at Massey Wellington Students' Association.

Tim has been part of the Te Pū Harakeke team since 2019, first working as Programme Coordinator, and has been Manager since early 2022.

Tim has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Māori Studies from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.

Justin Ngai

Kairuruku Kaupapa
Programme Coordinator

Justin (he/him) has been volunteering in the community arts sector since 2017, where he gained experience in governance, event coordination, and public speaking. He has been on the boards of the Creative Communities Scheme (Palmerston North), Manawatū People's Radio, and The Comedy Hub.

Justin has worked with the Manawatū Multicultural Council and used to volunteer as an English tutor in English Language Partners. He graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Master of Arts (Philosophy) in 2014.

Justin oversees our capability and capacity building programmes, and with his range of different experiences, aims to help the sector with whatever’s in his toolbox.

Josephine Gutry

Administrator

Josephine (she/her) joined us in April 2022 as our kaiāwhina. She previously worked in the health sector in pharmacy. She has a passion for helping people and hopes to instigate growth and change in the community sector.

Jose brings a bubbly and enthusaistic nature to the workspace, her Monday morning baking is a highlight in the office.

Josephine is currently completing a Bachelors degree in health science, majoring in health promotion. She hopes to use her study within the community sector to better educate and encourage people to take control of their health.

Kanchana Seneviratne

Kaiwhakatau Manuhiri
Customer Services Officer

Kanchana moved to New Zealand from Sri Lanka in 2014 for her studies and has been in love with Palmerston North ever since.

Kanchana joined us 2019 as Customer Services Officer for Hancock Community House. She previously worked in the hospitality industry in NZ and has worked in the community sector in Italy and Sri Lanka.

Kanchana completed her Bachelor of Languages in Sri Lanka and postgraduate diploma in International Business in New Zealand. Her passion for other cultures and languages helps her to interact easily with people of all backgrounds.
